Microwave Stand Butcher Block
This was a fun project that started with a goal of freeing up some counter space by moving the microwave, and ended with a few square feet of added counter height work surface. For a while the top held a toaster oven and SodaStream, but it’s now used as a cutting/work surface. This butcher block is made of maple and cherry, and was treated with mineral oil. It gets worked on every day, and could use an oil refresh, but after 5 years of use, looks nearly as good as the day it was made. The base is made from plywood, and was painted a dark grey.
