White Oak Sideboard

This sideboard was built on speculation. I’d had the idea bouncing around in my head for a while after building a kitchen island in a similar style. This piece is built from rift sawn white oak and stainless steel. Ten “ribs” extend up from the floor, across the piece, and back down the floor. These “ribs” are the backbone of the piece and create a table top surface that measures 17” deep, by 72” long. There are four “boxes” that float underneath the “ribs.” One box has two doors, which close on soft close hinges, two boxes have open shelf storage, and the final box is a 25” wide drawer which also closes softly, and features maple drawer sides, half blind dovetails, and a unique integrated pull.
